Gloria Höckner (*1987 in Vienna, Austria) works as freelance choreographer and performer. Mainly based in Hamburg and Berlin she also worked inter alia in Vienna, Seoul, Santiago de Chile. Following a broader understanding of choreography at the intersection of choreography and performance art, a main interest of her artistic work is the body and it‘s entanglement with others in a game between existing forms and the invention of new forms. She often uses pre-given materials and enters a playful re-articulation of them in which the transformational potential of the body becomes more visible. Gloria Höckner is interested in the nowadays virtual transforming body and how it re-materializes in the here and now – in clubs and public spaces, on stage.

She is holder of the scholarship stART.up 2019/20 of Claussen-Simon Stiftung. In 2018 she was artist in residence at Nave in Santiago de Chile and at the program Limited Edition at K3 – Centre for Choreography in Hamburg as well as artist in residence at Seoul Dance Center. In 2017 she was choreographic assistant to Laurent Chétouane for the piece Out of Joint/Partita 1 that premiered at HAU Hebbel am Ufer Berlin and recipient of the Startstipendium of the Austrian Ministry of Culture.

Gloria finished her masters in Performance Studies in 2015. Before that she completed her diploma in theatre-, film and media sciences at the University of Vienna. She took part in festivals like Hauptsache Frei, Dance Kiosk, Dance in Response, or Festival of Future Nows (as part of Berlin Art Week).

Furthermore she is co-founder of Überblau, a platform for interdisciplinary artistic exchange and work in progress showings, she was co-organizer of Probebühne im Gängeviertel, a collective that organizes an affordable rehearsal space for the free scene in Hamburg, and co-founder of daraum, a self organized performance space at HfBK Hamburg. Furthermore she was a member of the choreographic collective kompanie. In Vienna she was part of the editorial collective of the queer-feminist magazine fiber - for feminism and popculture and was co-founder of the improvisation- and theatre group Spielwiese.
